Volunteer

While HMWCG is fortunate to work with ecological experts in predator control, monitoring and biodiversity, the success of the project is also dependent upon volunteers from the community to assist and support our aspirational goals.

Volunteers are essential to creating a trained workforce for on-the-ground operations. While the work can be hard, volunteers also get the benefits of enjoying the beautiful landscape of Hikaroroa. Trained volunteers help us meet our biodiversity goals of protecting threatened flora & fauna, and ultimately reintroducing regionally extinct tāoka species.

Volunteers also serve a vital link in serving and building the community as we all learn together about the importance of the area, and jointly develop skills to protect it.

Not all volunteers need to be field-able. If you’ve got other skills you’d like to contribute, please sign up! We often need help with event planning, marketing and social media activities, general administration. Contact Jamie to see how you can support our efforts.
