Collaborative Field Trial to Study Possum Behaviour

Collaborative Field Trial to Study Possum Behaviour

7th December 2025

Three wildlife ecologists from New Zealand's Bioeconomy Science Institute (formerly Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research) joined the recent volunteer weekend servicing the AT220 possum control network. The HMWCG trap network serves as one of the scientific field sites in which the ecologists plan to study possum behaviour as they interact with traps in real-world conditions. They have installed trail cameras throughout the AT220 network in order to monitor possum activity, with evenutal plans to observe how possums respond to high-reward pre-feeding... watch this space!
